Laboratory

This exercise introduces how organizations can adopt agents to create customized versions of Microsoft 365 Copilot tailored to their needs. Examples include an HR agent for company policies and an IT agent for internal procedures, using official documents as data sources.
This Lab demonstrates how to build agents with tools like Agent Builder, Copilot Studio, and the Teams Toolkit, while also highlighting a no-code approach for ease of use.
Additionally, companies, including Microsoft, and its partners, provide agents, many of which may are already be available in the catalog, similar to Microsoft 365 and Teams applications.

Task 1 Search for Agents in the app Catalog

  1. Open a browser, go to https://teams.microsoft.com/ and sign in with your credentials.
  2. On the left pane, select Apps > Featured > Copilot agent to view all the apps that support Copilot. Apps that support Copilot are marked with a small Copilot logo indicating that the application extends Copilot’s functionality.

Task 2 Install the Prompt Coach Agent from the app catalog

Installing an agent is straightforward, similar to installing an application in Teams or Microsoft 365. Microsoft developed several agents to enhance customer experiences, including specialized coaches designed to improve performance in specific areas. Examples include the Idea Coach for brainstorming and the Learning Coach for upskilling technical skills.

1. On the Copilot Agents page, explore and review the following agents to gain a better understanding of the capabilities of these specialized coaches:

  • Ideas Coach
  • Learning Coach

2. Find and select the Prompt Coach agent.

3. Review the tabs and information and then select Add to install the agent.

Within seconds, the agent will be added. You’ll then see an Open in Copilot button, which launches the Copilot experience in focus mode, centered specifically on the agent you just installed.

4. Once the agent us is successfully added, select Open in Copilot.

5. Notice the title, suggested prompts, and the agents list.

6. In the right pane of Copilot, you can view a list of all available agents. To use an agent, select one, such as Prompt Coach, to enter the focused experience.
In this mode, the Copilot UI is replaced with the agent’s logo, name, and specific prompt starters that you can use. From this point, all interactions will be managed by the agent. For example, if you ask, Help me generate a prompt to be used in Copilot the agent will utilize its predefined instructions, knowledge, and actions to provide a tailored response.

7. The agent can be managed from the rightmost pane. Hover over the agent to reveal the pin and the ellipsis (…):

  • Pin: Allows you to pin the agent, making it readily accessible in the list of available agents.
  • Ellipsis (…): Provides options such as uninstalling the agent to remove it.

Task 3 Use the Prompt Coach Agent

  1. From the suggested prompts, select the Prompt Engineering tile. This will populate the prompt field with How do I write a good prompt?. Press Enter on your keyboard to submit the prompt.
  2. Review the response for helpful tips on crafting effective prompts.
  3. For a more interactive experience, select + New Chat in the top-right corner of the page, then choose the Analyze Prompt tile and press Enter.
  4. Review the response, then enter the following into the prompt and press Enter:
